Heatwave - School open as normal

HEATWAVE

As you will know, the Met Office has issued a Red Weather Warning of extreme heat on Monday and Tuesday this week.

In line with Government guidance and advice from Hillingdon Council, the school expects to remain open to children. We will have our Water Play Day on Monday or Tuesday to help the children cool off and parents should take note of the following:

WHAT TO BRING TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY

·         Children should wear loose fitting home clothes (e.g. t-shirt, shorts) on Monday and Tuesday and can wear non-uniform all week.

·         Please make sure your child has a hat, a water bottle and suncream all labelled with their name.

·         Your child should bring a small water squirter toy and a towel for the Water Play. They should also bring their PE Kit, a change of underwear and a second pair of shoes that can get wet. Please put this into a carrier bag for the children to put their wet clothes into.

We will be taking steps to protect children from the heat:

·         Classrooms will be ventilated and fans have been purchased for each classroom

·         Children will not be going outside during the hottest times of the day

·         Children will not be having PE lessons on Monday or Tuesday

·         The timings of breaktimes and lunchtimes may change

If any guidance changes, we will let all parents know by text message as soon as possible.
