Curriculum
The whole school curriculum is developed from the National Curriculum, which promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and physical development of pupils at the school. It also prepares pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.
We introduce work in most areas of learning through themes and topics that relate to the experience and interests of the children. Their learning takes place through play in the Nursery and it becomes progressively more structured throughout the Nursery and Infant years. Carefully planned work, involving children in active learning, ensures that children develop and reinforce their knowledge, concepts and skills in all areas of learning, but with particular emphasis in all aspects of Literacy and Numeracy.
Education in the Infant School is provided in two stages:
- the Early Years Foundation Stage for children aged 3-5, and
- Key Stage 1 for children aged 5-7.
Our Knowledge Organisers and Long Term Planning documents are used to plan each lesson and help parents understand the key concepts in the topic being studied each term. You can find them at the button below.
