Children love to express themselves and art is an important way of doing this. Children are taught to explore and develop ideas through investigating and making art, craft and design. As they draw, paint, colour and make models, children learn a great deal. Through Art & Design they:

• improve their manipulative skills
• learn to work with a range of materials and processes in two and three dimensions
• learn about pattern, colour, textures, shape and materials
• use their imagination and creativity
• are introduced to the work of other artists and craftspeople in contemporary life and in different times and cultures
